Chilliwack
Where the Fraser Valley meets the mountains — outdoor adventure at every turn.
Chilliwack is the largest city in the eastern Fraser Valley, sitting at the foot of the Cascade Mountains where the valley begins to narrow toward the Fraser Canyon. It is a city that combines a strong agricultural heritage with serious outdoor adventure, offering some of the best hiking, fishing, and river activities in the Lower Mainland region. The Chilliwack River valley is one of the premier steelhead and salmon fishing destinations in BC, drawing anglers from across the province every fall. The river runs cold and clear through a valley of old-growth forest and mountain scenery that feels worlds away from the city just minutes behind you. Vedder Mountain and the surrounding Cascade foothills offer hundreds of kilometres of hiking and mountain biking trails for all ability levels. Cultus Lake, just south of the city, is one of the most popular summer destinations in the Fraser Valley. The warm lake, sandy beaches, and waterslide park have been drawing families for generations, and the surrounding provincial park offers camping, hiking, and wildlife viewing. Bridal Veil Falls, one of the most photographed waterfalls in BC, is just minutes east of Chilliwack on the Trans-Canada Highway. Chilliwack has a strong agricultural identity — the surrounding farmland produces corn, blueberries, raspberries, and dairy products that supply much of the Lower Mainland. The Chilliwack Corn Festival in August celebrates the harvest season with farm tours, corn roasts, and community events that draw visitors from across the region. The city's downtown has seen significant revitalization, with independent shops, restaurants, and a growing arts community. The Chilliwack Cultural Centre is one of the finest performing arts venues in the Fraser Valley.
