Logan Lake
A highland lake town in the heart of BC's copper country.
Logan Lake is a planned community built in the early 1970s to house workers at the Highland Valley Copper mine, one of the largest open-pit copper mines in the world. Sitting on a high plateau at 1,100 metres elevation, the town has a distinctive character — clean, well-planned, and surrounded by a landscape of rolling hills, small lakes, and pine forest that offers excellent outdoor recreation. The Highland Valley Copper operation is one of the economic pillars of the BC Interior, and the mine's scale is genuinely impressive — the open pit is visible from the highway and gives a sense of the industrial power that has shaped this corner of the province. The town itself is quiet and welcoming, with good services for travellers and a community that takes pride in its outdoor setting. The lakes around Logan Lake offer excellent rainbow trout fishing, and the surrounding hills provide hiking, ATV riding, and wildlife viewing. The area is known for its wildflower displays in early summer, when the highland meadows bloom with colour. Deer, moose, and coyote are commonly seen throughout the area.
