Qualicum Beach

Vancouver Island's most elegant beach town — a refined seaside community with warm waters and a charming village centre.

Qualicum Beach is a small town on the east coast of Vancouver Island, about 15 kilometres north of Parksville, that has developed a reputation as one of the most refined and pleasant communities on the island. It has a genteel, unhurried character — wide, sandy beaches, a charming heritage village centre, excellent restaurants and galleries, and a community that takes genuine pride in its quality of life. The beach at Qualicum Beach is one of the finest on Vancouver Island — a broad, gently sloping expanse of sand that extends for kilometres along the Strait of Georgia, with warm, shallow water that is excellent for swimming in summer. The beach is backed by a pleasant promenade and park, and the views across the strait to the mainland mountains are beautiful. The village centre is a pleasure to explore. The heritage buildings along Memorial Avenue house independent shops, galleries, and restaurants that reflect the community's character — thoughtful, locally owned, and oriented toward quality rather than quantity. The Qualicum Beach Heritage and Museum Society preserves the history of the community, and the local arts scene is active and welcoming. The Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park, accessible from Qualicum Beach, is one of the finest cave systems in BC. The caves offer guided tours ranging from easy family-friendly walks to challenging wild caving adventures, and the surrounding park provides excellent hiking and camping.
