Salmon Arm

The Gem of the Shuswap — where the lake meets the mountains.

Salmon Arm sits on the southwestern arm of Shuswap Lake, a city with a spectacular waterfront setting and a character that blends agricultural heritage with a growing arts and tourism economy. The Shuswap Lake here is wide and beautiful, with the Salmon Arm Wharf extending far out into the water and offering one of the finest lake views in the BC Interior. The Shuswap Lake area is famous for its houseboat culture — the lake's many arms and bays make it ideal for houseboat holidays, and Salmon Arm is one of the main bases for exploring the system. The lake also offers excellent fishing for kokanee salmon, rainbow trout, and Dolly Varden, and the surrounding hills provide hiking and mountain biking. Salmon Arm has a strong arts community, with the Salmon Arm Arts Centre and the Roots and Blues Festival — one of the finest music festivals in BC — drawing visitors from across the province every August. The city's downtown has a walkable character with independent shops, restaurants, and a farmers market that reflects the agricultural richness of the Shuswap Valley.
