Before You Fly

Tips for Paragliding in BC

Book in Advance

Popular tandem flights at Whistler and Golden fill up weeks ahead in July and August. Book at least 2–3 weeks early for summer flights, especially on weekends.

Weight & Age Limits

Most operators have a weight limit of 100–110 kg (220–242 lbs) for tandem flights. Minimum age is typically 8–12 years. Check with your operator when booking.

Weather Flexibility

Paragliding is entirely weather-dependent. Most operators will reschedule at no charge if conditions are unsafe. Build flexibility into your travel plans.

What to Wear

Dress in layers — it's significantly colder at altitude. Wear closed-toe shoes. Avoid loose scarves or items that could tangle. Operators provide harnesses and helmets.

Best Time to Fly

Thermal conditions are typically best from late morning to mid-afternoon. Morning flights offer calmer air and clearer visibility. Coastal sites are best in the morning before sea breezes develop.

Photography

Secure your phone or camera in a chest pocket or use a wrist strap. Many operators offer GoPro footage of your flight. Ask about video packages when booking.
