Tips for BC Motorsport

Everything you need to know before your first race day

Check the schedule first

Most BC racing venues post their season calendars in March or April. Visit the track website or their Facebook page to find race dates before making travel plans.

Bring ear protection

Motorsport is loud. Foam earplugs or noise-cancelling ear muffs are essential for comfortable spectating at drag strips and oval tracks — especially for children.

Spectating is usually affordable

Most BC oval and drag racing events charge $10–$20 for spectator admission. Road course track days are typically closed to spectators unless it's a race event.

Want to drive? Book a track day

Mission Raceway and Pacific Raceways both offer open track days where you can drive your own car on the circuit. A valid driver's licence is usually all you need for beginner sessions.

Photography is welcome

BC motorsport venues are generally photography-friendly. A telephoto lens (200mm+) is ideal for capturing cars at speed. Ask at the gate about designated photography areas.

Stay nearby for race weekends

Race weekends at Mission Raceway and Pacific Raceways draw large crowds. Book accommodation in Mission, Abbotsford, or Surrey well in advance for major event weekends.
