Revelstoke

The powder capital of the Selkirks — a mountain town reborn as BC's most exciting ski destination.

Revelstoke has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past two decades, evolving from a quiet railway town into one of the most exciting mountain destinations in Canada. Revelstoke Mountain Resort, which opened in 2007, offers the greatest vertical drop of any ski resort in North America — 1,713 metres from summit to base — and a snowfall that regularly exceeds 10 metres per season. The town itself is one of the most charming in BC — a heritage downtown with Victorian-era buildings, excellent restaurants, craft breweries, and a vibrant arts scene that reflects the creative energy of the mountain community that has grown up around the resort. The Revelstoke Railway Museum tells the story of the CPR's construction through Rogers Pass, one of the greatest engineering achievements in Canadian history. Mount Revelstoke National Park, right at the edge of town, offers spectacular alpine meadow hiking accessible by road — the Summit Road climbs to 1,938 metres, where wildflower meadows bloom in July and August. The Columbia River wetlands south of town are one of the most important inland wetland ecosystems in North America. In summer, the Revelstoke area offers world-class mountain biking, hiking, and river rafting.
